S02 is a series of 6 courses, each comprising 28 lessons.

Course description: The courses provide elementary education in the Finnish language, focusing on both written and spoken language at the elementary level.
Target group: Immigrants, remigrants, and other foreign language speakers, young or adult, who need Finnish language for example in working life.
Requirements: No previous studies in Finnish expected, but some elementary oral skills will be an advantage. Ability to use the Finnish writing system (the Latin alphabet).
a) give the students elementary language skills for working life,
b) strengthen the students’ multicultural identity, and
c) form a basis for functional bilingualism.

Costs: Education is free for those who are not secondary school graduates, ie those who have not yet taken the Finnish matriculation examination, unless they study full-time somewhere else.
